I had the privilege of visiting a Kindergarten class in action today. Each month during their Kindergarten year, the students use a different medium to create a Self-Portrait. Today, they used the iPad to create their works of art.
The students first took a photo of themselves with the iPad camera. Students then opened up the app Drawing Pad to begin working. They uploaded the photo as a background on a new project. Using digital paintbrushes, crayons and markers, students traced each and every detail of their face. When they were ready to check to see if they missed something, they changed the background back to white and easily spotted the features that were missing.
Kudos to this creative Kindergarten teacher and her class! A 21st century spin on an Early Childhood tradition!
